Accelerated Reader (AR)

At RYSS Brownsville, students participate in the Accelerated Reader (AR) Program, which encourages a lifelong love of reading while helping students strengthen their reading comprehension and literacy skills.

Students choose books that match their individual reading level, read independently, and complete a computer-based comprehension quiz after finishing each book. Based on the book's length, reading level, and quiz score, students earn AR points that can be redeemed for exciting prizes at the AR Store.

To celebrate student achievement, Top Reader Awards are presented every nine weeks to recognize outstanding reading accomplishments. At the end of the school year, students who have earned the highest number of AR points are honored for their dedication and commitment to reading.

We are proud to encourage our students to become confident, enthusiastic readers while celebrating their hard work and success throughout the year.
